He has participated in several exhibitions and has been invited to various seminars and talks about Art & New Media in the USA and in Europe. He was recently exhibited at Parisoma, San Francisco and at the Digital Village, Paris. He also received a commission for a Mural for the Innovation Fabrik in Berlin.
For the last 20 years, Denis’s been experimenting with various innovative technologies related to digital art including generative art, but Denis Santelli is a classically trained artist, his primary medium was oil paint on canvas. Today he paints in a 3D space using virtual reality technology.
Landscape is an important subject for Santelli that he links to our era of environmental transformation.
Influenced by Nicolas Poussin, Turner, Monet and also abstract expressionist artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell, Santelli’s paintings appear to have been created spontaneously but are constructed using compositional guideline and classical rules.
Three-dimensional hand made brush strokes degraded by the artefacts that are specific to the digital medium are a vital element of his work.
